It’s not a STI per se, but can spread by close skin to skin contact. You can also catch it by get in contact with an infected person’s clothing etc.
They were saying that the cases in Europe are mostly linked to 2 gatherings that mainly involve gay / bi people (and to be honest the gays are a bit more touchy feely with their friends), which is why it’s disproportionately affecting gays / bis at the moment. But it’s not exclusively a “gay plague”.
