Russians should call Putin “ruler”.
The tsar is dead, long live the Pravitel!
This is how dictator and would-be tsar Vladimir Putin (69) will soon be addressed. The Russian Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR), which is neither liberal nor democratic, has suggested using the Russian title Pravitel as it better reflected Putin’s status and role, as it put it.

She has argued in Russian media that Putin’s current “presidential” title was first coined in the US in the 18th century. That’s why she thinks “Pravitel” is appropriate - which translates as “the ruler, the regent, the protector”. Dictator would be much more appropriate…
